kshar

Kshars are derived from plant drug ashes, which can be found as solutions or crystals. They all share the common characteristic of being alkaline. Since the kshars are burning, the substance must be caustic. They are known as kshar because they cause ksharan to mamsa, etc, dhatus.


Apamarg Kshar

Apmarag kshar is prepared from Apamarg. It has diuretic properties and is hence useful in dysuria. 

Many ayurvedic surgeons, use Apamarg Kshar for Kshar sutra, which is used in abscess and fistula. 


Chinchak Kshar
